Brahms Heelshire is the titular main antagonist of the 2016 psychological horror thriller film The Boy and it's 2020 sequel Brahms:The Boy 2. He is the son of wealthy family called Heelshire, and a serial killer. His parents faked his death to protect him after he killed his friend when he was 8, leading him to live in the walls of the home for 20 years. His parents left Brahms with a “nanny” as a parting gift so that they could kill themselves while making sure he was cared for. He occupied himself by stalking his nanny Greta, moving the doll (that was supposed to portray him as a child) around the house. He was portrayed by James Russell, and his young version was portrayed by Jett Klyne. Biography Backstory Brahms Heelshire was a sociopathic child who was friends with a young girl named Emily Cribbs. When Brahms was 8 years old, he and Emily wandered into the woods by themselves. Brahms killed his friend Emily by smashing her head and started a fire so as to fake his death and avoid punishment, which resulted in his face becoming horribly burned and scarred. To protect their son, Brahms hid away in the walls of his mansion and was declared dead so no one could find him. Brahms wore a porcelain doll-like mask to hide his face. His parents, who grew fearful of him, hired countless nannies in an attempt to find someone to care for him. However none of the nannies met his standards and so he killed them all. The Boy As an attempt of escaping her abusive boyfriend back in the United States, Greta accepts a job as a temporary nanny to an English family by the name of the Heelshires. She is then introduced to the married couple's son, Brahms, who turns out to be a life size porcelain doll. Supposedly, the real Brahms perished in a fire 20 years ago, and he had apparently rejected several nannies prior to being introduced to Greta. As Mr. and Mrs. Heelshire were leaving for their vacation, Greta is given a list of rules to follow in regard to their son. Greta predictably ignores the rules, and as a result, mysterious events start to happen. Brahms would seemingly move on his own, and he would disappear and reappear anywhere in the house. She eventually starts to believe that Brahms' soul was inhabiting the doll after she was given a peanut butter-and-jelly sandwich. Malcolm, the Heelshires' grocery boy, tries to convince Greta into leaving the house by telling her that the real Brahms presumably murdered his childhood friend by the name of Emily Cribbs back in 1991 before dying that very night, but she refuses. Meanwhile, the Heelshires write a goodbye letter to their son, and they then drown themselves by walking into a river. One evening, Cole, Greta's ex-boyfriend, makes his way to Heelshire household, fully intent on forcing Greta to return to Montana, by force if necessary. To help deal with Cole, Malcolm decides to stay nearby, while Greta appeals to Brahms for help. Cole finds a message in blood telling him to leave; believing either Gretta or Malcolm did it, Cole angrily snatches the doll and destroys it. Immediately afterwards, the house begins to shake, and the lights flicker. Cole investigates a mirror in the room, which shatters open. An adult human Brahms, wearing a porcelain mask, then comes out of the wall. It is then revealed that Brahms has been alive all along, having been living within the house's walls. Enraged at the destruction of the doll, Brahms attacks the group and kills Cole, stabbing him with one of the broken shards of the doll. Malcolm and Greta then flee with the angry Brahms following them. After escaping to the attic, they finds photographs of Brahms' childhood friend, as well as her missing dress and jewelry. Greta learns that Brahms was actually moving the doll to give the illusion that it was alive. To her horror, she figures out that the Heelshires had offered her as a sacrifice to Brahams for his "keeping" as they did with previous nannies. Greta and Malcolm attempt to escape through a small passage, but only Greta succeeds when Brahms knocks out Malcolm with a baseball bat. He threatens to kill Malcolm if she leaves, forcing Greta to come back. After arming herself with a screwdriver, Greta uses Brahms' strict rules against and coerces him to go to bed He asks for a good night kiss, which she begrudgingly accepts. Brahms then tries to pull Greta in and make out with her, at which point she stabs him. Brahms then gets out of the bed and attempts to strangle her. Greta stabs Brahms further until he lets go and drops to the floor, the stabs presumably killing Brahms. She escapes the estate with Malcolm, leaving the gate doors open in the process. The film then ends with a hand rebuilding the doll, implying that Brahms is still alive. Brahms:The Boy 2 Brahms returns again in the upcoming sequel. This July we will be hit with the continuing tales of Brahms Heelshire and his creepy doll in director William Brent Bell's upcoming sequel The Boy II starring Katie Holmes and Ralph Ineson. And today we have word that the movie will not be called merely The Boy 2 after all. During this week's CinemaCon, the powers that be behind the scenes of the teen horror follow-up have announced that the film will now be going by the official title Brahms: The Boy II. Not sure why the studio and or the filmmakers decided this was a better title than The Boy II or hell even The Boy Returns, but maybe the title change will make a bit more sense after we witness the final film this summer. I can't help but be intrigued by this new film. Mostly because of how the original movie ended. And if I need to go ahead and say this, I'm about to get into some spoilers. So if you haven't seen the original film, you might want to turn your eyes away until the next paragraph. Okay, that out of the way, yeah, I can't quite figure out where the filmmakers plan to take this new movie. After all, the first film revealed that Brahms was still alive and doing relatively well hiding in the walls of his mansion home. Will Brahms still be hiding in the walls in this new film? Or hell maybe this is a prequel in disguise. that could be interesting. I guess we'll see this summer! Katie Holmes ( Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, Batman Begins) will be leading this new film as Liza with Ralph Ineson ( The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, The Witch) joining her as a character named Joseph. Owain Yeoman ( Chromeskull: Laid to Rest 2, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) joins the party as Holmes's husband Sean, and Christopher Convery ( The Girl in the Spider's Web, Gotham) rounds out the cast as Holmes and Yeoman's young son, Jude. While the name William Brent Bell might not be a horror-household-name just yet, the man is no slouch when it comes to his contributions to the horror genre. His current resume includes films such as Stay Alive with Frankie Muniz and Milo Ventimiglia, The Devil Inside with Fernanda Andrade and Simon Quarterman, and Wer with A. J. Cook and Brian Scott O'Connor under his belt as well. Brahms: The Boy II is obviously the sequel to Brent Bell's original 2016 fright flick The Boy starring Lauren Cohan ( The Walking Dead, Whiskey Cavalier) and Rupert Evans ( Hellboy, The Canal. The Boy 2.5. The boy scouts. STX Films has revealed the first trailer for Brahms: The Boy 2, which brings back the creepy doll Brahms for some more terror toy action. This time around, Brahms will be terrorizing Katie Holmes, in place of The Walking Dead star Lauren Cohan, who headed up the first movie. As we can see from this initial look, this could fill the deadly doll horror void this year, since there are no new Annabelle or Chucky flicks coming our way. The first footage kicks off with a seemingly happy mother coming home to see her son. Unfortunately, his behavior is a bit, shall we say concerning. So, the family decides to move to a large manor out in the middle of nowhere to change things up a bit. What could possibly go wrong? Naturally, this troubled young boy finds Brahms buried out in the woods and befriends the doll. The mom thinks the whole thing is creepy, but lets it go since it makes her son happy. As we see, that was probably the wrong move. The whole thing sort of seems like a mix between Child's Play and The Omen. The trailer also boasts a tagline that suggests we're going to dig deeper into the doll's backstory in the sequel. "Discover the truth about Brahms. Released in 2016, The Boy was not one would call a critical success, as the movie currently holds just a 30 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, to go against a 38 percent audience rating. But money talks, and it certainly made money. The horror flick grossed 64 million worldwide, working from a comparatively small budget of just 10 million. As such, we're getting a sequel. Whether or not it can do as well, financially speaking, as its predecessor, remains to be seen. More importantly for moviegoers, can this be a case where the sequel is much better than the original? Think Ouija: Origin of Evil compared to Ouija. One can only hope, but we'll know soon enough. Brahms: The Boy 2 hits theaters on February 21 from STX Films.
